Same line, different detail
For L02, change size M to L and leave quantity at 3. Keep L02. The comparison reports a size change with no change to the total item count.
FREE TEMPLATE · GROUP SHIRT ORDERS
Set up sizes, quantities and customer packing groups in the format Group Order Check understands. Start with the free CSV, then check it before paying.
Template, example and format check are free. The version 1 comparison and packing tool is $29 once.
01 · START WITH THE TEMPLATE
Use a copy of your order sheet for preparation. Put one garment variant and personalization combination on each row. Don’t add a title row, merged cells, subtotal rows or extra columns.
| Column | Example | What belongs here |
|---|---|---|
line_id | L01 | A unique ID for this order line. Keep it unchanged when that same line is revised. |
order_id | G001 | Groups lines onto one customer’s packing sheet. Several lines may use the same order ID. |
customer | Example Customer | Use one exact customer name for each order ID. These are your working order labels. |
style | Classic Tee | The garment style. Keep spelling consistent; different styles are counted separately. |
fit | Adult | Adult or Youth. Adult M and Youth M are different garment variants. |
size | M | Adult: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL. Youth: XS, S, M, L, XL. |
color | Navy | The garment color. Keep spelling consistent; Navy and Navy Blue remain separate. |
quantity | 3 | A whole number from 1 to 1,000. One row can represent several identical garments. |
personalization | Leave blank if unused | Optional text carried onto the packing sheet. Split rows when the personalization differs. |
All fields except personalization need a value. The template includes the optional personalization column so you can leave its cells empty. Each cell supports up to 500 characters.
02 · SAVE BOTH VERSIONS
Keep the earlier CSV before editing. Copy it to make the current version. Use text IDs such as L01 and G001, and keep them stable—even when you sort the sheet.
For L02, change size M to L and leave quantity at 3. Keep L02. The comparison reports a size change with no change to the total item count.
If L04 is fully cancelled, remove that row from the current version. Don’t set its quantity to zero. Leave at least one current order line.
Add a new row with an unused ID, such as L13. Don’t reuse the ID of a cancelled line for a different customer’s order.
Don’t renumber every line after a cancellation. The checker matches line IDs, not spreadsheet row numbers. If the IDs change, it cannot know which lines represent the same items. Before buying, add both versions to the free format check to check for shared line IDs.
03 · EXPORT A COPY
The checker accepts comma-separated UTF-8 text, not an Excel workbook. Keep your original workbook; export only the order tab. CSV files don’t retain workbook formatting or multiple tabs.
Use File → Save As and choose a CSV format. Choose the UTF-8, comma-delimited option when available. Check the exported file in the free format checker.
Microsoft’s CSV export instructions ↗Open the order tab, then use File → Download and select the comma-separated CSV format for the current sheet.
Google’s spreadsheet export instructions ↗Menu wording varies by app version. If your file uses semicolons or tabs, export a comma-separated copy. Don’t rename an .xlsx extension to .csv or replace separators inside names by hand.
04 · CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY
Use the template headers above. Name and Qty are not the same as customer and quantity. Copy the matching values into the template, remove extra columns from that copy and export again. Keep the original sheet.
Fill in a supported size and confirm whether the garment is Adult or Youth. Adult 2XL is supported; Youth 2XL, toddler and numeric sizes are not. Don’t substitute a different size just to pass the check.
Every row needs its own line ID within a file. Correct accidental duplicates while preserving the identity of matching rows across the earlier and current versions. Multiple rows may share an order ID.
Use the same exact customer label on every row belonging to that packing order. If the rows belong to different customers, use separate order IDs.
A review note needs your judgment. Two otherwise identical lines with different IDs both count. Size aliases may be normalized, such as Medium to M. Confirm the result against the intended garments before production.
No. A successful format check does not verify customer approval, artwork, stock or business accuracy. Review the actual revision, quantities and packing output before using them.
